THE WEDDING GIFT LIST

GENERATING IDEAS FOR YOUR WEDDING GIFT LIST

The Wedding Gift List

The decision making process for the contents of the Wedding Gift List will be different for each individual couple, and depends on what stage in life they are at. For us, we’d already set up home (and decluttered) so we didn’t necessarily need the traditional wedding gifts. We took the time to sit down together to collate a list that we could add to our wedding website.

The ideas below include some from our wedding wish list, along with ideas that other couples have used.

Store Wedding Gift List

This option gives you the chance to create your wish list and then your wedding guests can choose which item to purchase.

We chose John Lewis and Dunelm but there’s plenty of other options available.

National Garden Gift Vouchers

National Garden Gift Vouchers can be used at most Garden Centres and you can purchase everything from flowers to furniture.

This was on our list as we wanted to put some attention into our garden.

Charity Donations

This is a lovely way to give back. We identified charities close to our hearts, but we also encouraged our guests to make contributions towards their preferred options.

Experiences

This can be anything from an evening out at the theatre to a memorable experience on your honeymoon.

We put Theatre Vouchers on our list as we wanted to support our local theatres following the pandemic.

Gift Membership

There’s options for RHS, National Trust, Theatres and many more.

We were delighted to receive an RHS Gift Membership courtesy of a joint contribution from a group of friends. It’s a gift that just keeps giving.

Picture Framing Vouchers

The opportunity to frame all your wonderful wedding photos.

We have a super local framing gallery Pictor Gallery Custom Framing so we included their vouchers as a gift option. We were thrilled to receive some custom framing vouchers.

Skills and Time

Do you need help with DIY in your house? Assistance with your garden? Cover for babysitting? Asking your guests for time and skills could offer a lovely, personal gift.

Honeymoon Contributions

This can be a really worthwhile option, especially if you’re funding your own wedding.

Money

This can be tricky to ask for, but you might find that some of your guests are comfortable with doing this. Be careful of cheques being in your joint names if you don’t have a joint bank account.

MY WEDDING WISDOM

THE WEDDING GIFT LIST HINTS AND TIPS

Include Items For All Price Ranges

When you’re compiling your wedding gift list, it’s a good idea to include gifts for all budgets / price ranges.

Some of your guests might not be able to club together with others to purchase an item. Plus, there might be some people who are unable to attend your wedding but still want to purchase a token gift for you.

Get Luggage

One of my Uncle’s used to always buy suitcases as wedding presents and I always thought it was a fantastic idea. It’s not something that you would necessarily buy yourself, but it’s such a great investment having good, reliable luggage for travelling.

Encourage Delivery

There’s a huge benefit to encouraging your guests to send your gifts directly to your house before or after the wedding.

This saves on coordinating getting your gifts back to your house following your wedding.

Presence Is Their Present

Be mindful that some of your guests will be spending a lot of money just to attend your wedding. We included a note about their ‘Presence being our present’.
