REMEMBERING LOVED ONES

SENTIMENTAL TOUCHES TO REMEMBER THOSE WHO CAN’T BE WITH YOU ON YOUR WEDDING DAY

Remembering Those You Have Lost On Your Wedding Day

Your wedding day can be one of the most emotional days ever, but especially when there’s loved ones missing from your special day.

There’s so many wonderful ways to remember those who are missing, be it a dedicated area with photos, sentimental signs or wearing a piece of jewellery from a loved one.

For me, it was my truly amazing dad who was missing from my wedding day, so with a combination of sentimental reminders, I made sure that he was with me on my wedding day.

Sentimental Touches

The very special part of my wedding bouquet was that I included a photo of my dad within the bouquet. Sadly, my amazing dad had passed away a couple of years before my wedding so this was a way of me having him close to me. As I walked down the aisle, I was able to look down at my flowers and see a photo of my dad there smiling at me.

I purchased this keepsake gem from Etsy, they’ve got lots of stunning ways to remember those we love. Here’s where I purchased mine from Etsy.

Wedding Keepsake Box

Wedding Keepsake Box

My two fantastic best friends / bridesmaids, surprised me with this exquisite keepsake / memory box on my wedding day.

The contents included a horse shoe with our wedding date on, a sign that sat on the back of my chair at the wedding breakfast, a little angel that was also included on my wedding bouquet.

Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue

This age old tradition is the perfect way to include sentimental pieces into your wedding day look.

For my something old, I wore a pair of earrings and a ring that had been given to me by two of my Aunties. They were unable to attend the wedding due to the pandemic and being based overseas, so this was a lovely way of including them in the day.

My something new was covered by my dress and my shoes.

My something borrowed was a diamond necklace that my dad bought my mum on their 25th wedding anniversary.

Finally, the something blue was a little charm that was also attached to my bridal wedding bouquet. Once again, it was purchased from Etsy.

Biscuiteers Gingerbread Wedding Couple

Unique Sentimental Touches

On the run up to our wedding day, we were thrilled to receive this wedding themed delivery from Biscuiteers. Our gingerbread bride and groom were a gift from family who were unable to attend the wedding.  What a delightful and delicious treat.

MY WEDDING WISDOM

REMEMBERING LOVED ONES HINTS AND TIPS

Wear Waterproof Mascara

The added emotion of not having someone you love be a part of your wedding day, can make it difficult to hold back the tears. I would definitely suggest incorporating waterproof mascara into the mix!

Toast Absent Family and Friends

A lovely way of addressing those who are missing, is to include them as part of your wedding speeches.

Have Handkerchief and Tissues

Put a handkerchief or tissues in an easily accessible place. Luckily, my fantastic husband had this covered on our wedding day (see wedding ceremony cover photo).

Have Consultations / Trials

Try and make the time to have in-person consultations and trials. This can be especially important for hair and make up, floristry and venue dressing as it allows you to discuss your vision, and the supplier to give you their advice, recommendations and experience.
